Take an emergency SOS device with you. Or better yet, take a satellite phone that doesn’t depend on local cell phone signal. For navigation-take an off line compass and maps. Wear insulated layered clothing for rain and cold. Bring a headlamp for illumination. Carry food, water, and a water filtration system. Pack an emergency shelter like a mylar space blanket. Don’t forget a First Aid kit, bear spray, and pepper spray, especially if you are alone. Can you think of anything else?
